Harambee: Creating Context for Equity and Justice Webinar

December 7, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Thank you for joining the Healthy Start TA & Support Center on Monday, December 7 from 2-3:30 p.m. EST for the Harambee: Creating Context for Equity and .Justice Webinar, presented by Denise Evans MM, MA of Strong Beginnings Healthy Start. Harambee is a Swahili term meaning “synergy”. It represents the Kenyan tradition of community self-help events often connected with community development activities. In this webinar, we “all pulling together” with our National Healthy Start family –  to level set our understanding of equity and justice in the midst of the multiple pandemics facing the communities that we serve. Harambee is the official motto of Kenya, and we would like to set it as an intention as we prepare for our work in 2021.

While together we curated a safe learning community governed by the principles of Harambee and achieved the learning objectives below;

  1. Recognize the need for learning and engaging in difficult conversations about equity, race, and social justice
  2. Develop a shared vocabulary
  3. Explore our cultural identities and how they contribute to who we are
  4. Establish a foundation for ongoing shared learning opportunities
